Die Kolleg-Forschergruppe “Multiple Secularities – Beyond the West, Beyond Modernities” veranstaltet einen öffentlichen Vortrag über Religion und Politik im Iran: Iran is the only country which has experienced two revolutions, a repressive secular authoritarian regime, several short-lived foreign occupations, two coup d’états, a protracted war with an aggressor neighbor, several popular uprisings, and a repressive theocratic regime—all since the early 20th century. What is the impact of this turbulent history on the political, social, and cultural realities of contemporary Iran? How do recent trends and events in the world affect the political landscape and the lives of the Iranian people? After the presentation the floor will be open for discussion. Nahid Mozaffari’s talk will be the second of our series of public lectures that will give insights into the current research of the KFG “Multiple Secularities – Beyond the West, Beyond Modernities” – or deal with the latest developments in regions for which the KFG assembles expertise through its fellows. These lectures will usually take place at the Bibliotheca Albertina and are open to the public.
